Volunteer at the SBCP Library
We consider our volunteers to be a major asset in helping the library run smoothly. The library uses the services of volunteers to supplement the duties and activities of paid staff. Volunteers may assist with various tasks, including:
- Shelving materials
- Assisting a librarian with program setup/clean up
- Clerical work
- Special projects
The first thing you need to do is to fill out an Adult Volunteer Application and return it to the library. If we have available volunteer opportunities, a library staff member will contact you to arrange times.
Please stop by the library to pick up an application or print out an online form and bring it in to the library.

While the SBCPL is happy to have volunteers and will do what is possible to help arrange volunteer hours, we cannot guarantee hours or a certain number of hours. You will first need to fill out and turn in the Teen Volunteer Application. If we have available volunteer opportunities, a library staff member will contact you to arrange times.
As TN Promise hours have specific deadlines during the year, we have specific deadlines for the applications and hours. All applications and/or arrangements for hours must be completed a minimum of 2 weeks before the appropriate TN Promise deadline.
No applications will be accepted or volunteer hours arranged for TN Promise for the 2 weeks before the TN Promise deadline - March 17 for hours due in April, June 17 for hours due in July, and November 17 for hours due in December.
